Ease was created in the summer of 2024 in Santa Monica, CA, during a photoshoot with Cecily, an LA-based model and frequent collaborator, to test the character of a vintage-inspired lens I'd just purchased. As I put the lens through its paces in different lighting conditions, I gave Cecily minimal direction to move and drift as I captured the moments.
I took Ferry Light #2 on a ferry trip to Alcatraz during PACC's field trip day on June 20th, 2026. I was waiting in line to order some snacks downstairs on the ferry when I saw this scene by the large window: people sitting at the same table, each focused on their cellphone. I took several photos of them from different angles, but none of them noticed what I was doing or cared. They must have thought that I was taking photos of the water.
